Mother’s Day breakfast
Mother’s Day is a special occasion to honour the love and sacrifices of mothers everywhere. To honour the special mothers of our community, Playford College hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast. Over 150 mothers and grandmothers visited classrooms and shared a delicious breakfast. All those present were welcomed by College Captain, Farah Al-Shimari and Vice Captain, Sofia Jafari, Mrs Makki, Mr Al-Zubeidi and Mr Riemann who shared some thoughts about the importance and blessings of mothers. There was so much joy in the classrooms, as students and their mothers completed fun and meaningful activities together. Students were very proud to have their mums at school. Thank you to all the hard-working mothers who continue to nurture the lives of our students, allowing them to flourish.
Harmony Day 2024
At our recent School Harmony Day celebration, we embraced diversity and unity through a vibrant array of activities and events. The highlight of the day was a heartfelt fundraiser for Human Appeal, where families generously prepared and cooked a variety of delicious meals representing their diverse cultural backgrounds. These culinary delights were sold at the fundraiser, with all proceeds going to support Human Appeal’s humanitarian efforts for the children of Gaza. Students proudly wore their cultural clothing, adding a colorful and festive atmosphere to the event. It was a day filled with learning, sharing, and coming together as a community to support a noble cause while celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures within our school.
Year 9 Biographies
It was a joy to observe the interactions between Playford College Year 9 students and 32 over 65 year old senior South Australians on May 7th. The students prepared questions to ask the guests about their lives which they will make into a biography. There were so many smiles and laughs in the room as both guests and students shared life stories and the conversations were meaningful, respectful and joyful. The adults who came from the Adelaide Hills, Grange, Salisbury and other places were so impressed with Playford College students. We thanked the senior South Australians sincerely for their time and coming such a long distance. Some of senior South Australian’s reflections on the same day included: “Thank you for inviting us. The school has a great feel about it!” “It was an absolute delight and privilege to be at Playford this morning. So special and appreciative thanks to all the staff and students involved in today.” “We enjoyed the time and look forward to future opportunities to interact with what seems to be a positive, polite and vibrant school community.” “It was a brilliant initiative. I really enjoyed being part of it.” “We had a great morning. An absolute pleasure meeting and talking with your well mannered students and welcoming staff.” The students will write the biographies this term before delivering them to our guests.

Imam Ali Official Opening 2024
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the most Merciful Dear parents and caregivers, As the Holy Prophet narrated “I am the City of Knowledge and Imam Ali is its Gate” “انا مدينة العلم وعلي بابها”, Playford College is very proud of the monumental new building, Imam Ali Building which opened on the 8th of March 2024. Playford College hopes that by the opening of this building a new gate of Prophetic knowledge is opened for our students. Playford College encourages the gaining and spreading of knowledge as seen in the slogan “Wisdom through Faith and Knowledge’. As Imam Ali says, “Knowledge is better than wealth. Knowledge guards you while you have to guard wealth. Wealth decreases by spending while knowledge increases, and the result of wealth dies as wealth decays. With it, a man acquires obedience during his lifetime and a good name after his death. Knowledge is a ruler while wealth is ruled upon.” We are very proud of our new building and the opportunity that has been gifted through the love of Ahlul Bayt to ensure this new generation of leaders are equipped with the skills and knowledge to allow them to succeed in this life and the hereafter Inshallah.
